The Bell Collection
A bell collection is featured in today's post. A family member brags that she has a collection of over 150 bells. So this post is only a small sample. I agree that she has a fair claim to fame with her diverse collection. And I pondered what is the symbolism behind the bells. The collection began when the first bells were given in recognition of her leadership as a high school teacher over many years of service. Teachers deserve high recognition for their daily gifts of kindness and instruction to their students. A bell - a small memento - seems much better than the proverbial apple. The bell is a remembrance of that call to action and attention that was and sometimes still is a constant for students and teachers in many public schools. It is the notification that the time has arrived for learning. It establishes a common bond for students and teachers that it is time to begin. And the bells also are quite charming eye-catchers as well. A beautiful bell is a lovely symbol of the brightness that a good teacher can bring to the lives of her students. Feel free readers to comment on your suggestions and recommendations for mementos of recognition.
